Features:
- Electron Updated to version 11. This is a major upgrade from version 8 and improves on almost all facets of Kiwi for Gmail. Security and performance are the main incentives but also major improvements in Extension handling (below). It also allows us to improve on existing features in the future to a much greater degree.
- Extension system re-write. As we introduced more extensions with Kiwi 3.0 we realized that some extensions were not working as expected. This was specifically most noticeable on Grammarly. We thus had to upgrade our Electron version, as well as re-write most of the extension system to support those changes. This change should allow smoother usage of any extension in Kiwi and allows us to add even more in the future.
Grammarly Premium users should be aware that authentication of the extension now must happen on each account you wish to enable it for. In order to do so, enable Grammarly in Kiwi, then in each account, you add (and wish to use Grammarly Premium) authenticate with Grammarly.
Improvements:
- Printing has been improved across the application.
Be advised that we are aware of some issues with printing in general and unfortunately there are also some changes occurring on Google’s end that we are waiting on. Expect more improvements to printing in the future. - PDFs should now function better within the app and honor Download vs. Print.
- Google has made some changes to the Compose button, and we have adjusted our overlay to match.
- Various security enhancements were made.
Fixes:
- Calendar notifications should now work across all platforms.
- Resolved an issue where the new Google Compose button functionality was imposing on our keyboard shortcuts.
Other:
- We are aware of an issue with SSO when using Blue Jeans. This seems to be an issue on Blue Jeans side and we are working with their engineers on the issue.
