A complete re-write of Kiwi for Gmail / Kiwi for G Suite
Our Kiwi 3.0 products introduce a completely rewritten codebase to facilitate future enhancements and stability of our applications.
By moving to Electron, we have been able to cut down our own development time with the core foundation - allowing us to focus more on feature development. Electron is constantly being updated and improved and we benefit greatly from that work. Our commitment is to keep our products as up to date as possible with the most recent version of Electron, which should improve the stability of the user experience for our users.
What has changed?
Along with re-writing our applications from scratch, we introduced a back-end solution to manage our licenses, subscriptions, and payments in a single solution. This allows us to have a unified way to charge for all our products, a single source for licensing, and the ability to offer additional features to our business customers.
Electron:
Electron allows us to more rapidly develop additional functionality and features that extend to all operating systems, which caused some issues in the past. It simplifies our day to day operations of our software and reduces overhead, allowing for faster development and deployment.
Extensions:
One of the most requested additions to our products has always been the inclusion of more extensions. We started with Boomerang and added Right Inbox (for our windows application) some time ago, but we were always faced with an issue where supporting extensions was not easy or economical in our previous code. This was one of the key reasons to move to Electron as it allows us to offer extensions of higher complexity, and do so at a faster pace.
Our Kiwi 3.0 platform currently supports 8 extensions - Boomerang, Right Inbox, Grammarly, Blue Jeans, Virtru, Zoom Scheduler, and Gmail Reverse Conversation.
We will be adding support for more extensions in the future.
